Notes on taking pictures in Kuala Lumpur
The city has plenty of photographic shops where you can download your pictures of Kuala Lumpur onto disks, or stock up on film and supplies. You may even find yourself shopping for a new camera or accessories as many of these stores offer fantastic bargains.
Remember to be mindful of Islamic customs and be respectful when taking pictures in Kuala Lumpur. Dress appropriately when entering a mosque or temple, and do not be noisy or climb over walls or religious structures. Many religious sites are now considered tourist attractions, but be aware of restrictions on taking pictures of certain interiors using flash or during Friday prayers.
Malaysians themselves love being photographed and will often approach Westerners to join them in snaps – bizarre but it’s very common!
Kuala Lumpur pictures are an essential part of your trip to Malaysia and there are plenty of sights to photograph, so remember to take your camera everywhere you go. The light is best before 10:00, after which it sometimes gets hazy. It’s relatively safe to wander around freely displaying your camera but thieves do occasionally target tourists in busy areas, but be alert and you will be fine.
