Tourists looking for a little extra pampering will have no problem finding a spa treatment to sooth away their aches and transform them into a new person. Kuala Lumpur is famous for its exhaustive range of therapies which use all manner of exotic lotions and potions. And these all cost a fraction of the price as their Western equivalents.
Of course, those on a tight budget can still have a fabulous time in KL without taking out a second mortgage. Chinatown is the backpacker centre of the city and is awash with great value hostels and guesthouses plus cheap eats restaurants where ravenous hordes of travellers can fill up on rice and noodles for just a couple of dollars.
And after dark there a whole different side of Kuala Lumpur as the conservative exterior gets shrugged off and the young hip crowd comes out to play. There are chic lounge bars serving towering cocktails plus relax expat pubs showing live sport on big screen televisions. And after a delicious meal of Argentine steak, sushi caught fresh that morning or authentic Malay curries, the dancing shoes come on and revellers pound the nightclubs until dawn.
