More on visiting Peninsular Malaysia from KL

Historical Penang is on many people’s itineraries. This ancient settlement was a free trade bastion for privateers and merchants from all over the world where rubber and spices were shipped to the four corners of the globe. Today it remains a wonderfully diverse place with numerous different dialects and truly unique cuisine.

Malaysia is blessed with an astonishing array of wildlife and Taman Negara national park is host to some of the most diverse flora and fauna on the continent. This rainforest dates back 130 million years and is home to tapirs and leopards which can be spotted by staying in overnight hides deep in the jungle.

Or the Cameron Highlands hill station may be more to your liking with strawberry farms, spectacular waterfalls and verdant tea plantations to explore. It is easy to while away a few weeks here in the temperate climate with plenty of rolling scenery and great food to sample. And while the heat of the coast can sap your strength, the rejuvenating qualities of the highlands restores appetites and invigorates body and soul. Certainly, there is so much variety in visiting Malaysia from KL that it's difficult to know where to start!
